SA designer reintroduces the humble travel bumper sticker featuring the country’s 'best' small towns

There are few more nostalgic holidays than the South African road trip — whether you’re puttering down to the coast via a network of small towns or heading inland to one of the country’s national parks.

And before the rise of social media, there was no better way to quietly brag about your adventure than with a humble destination sticker.

These small, often faded and dogeared decals, slapped on the back of cars, caravans, and 4x4s, became the instantly recognisable, silent storytellers of the nation’s sometimes forgotten, but often iconic places: one-church towns, winding mountain passes, or celebrated national parks—a form of subtle endorsement that usually mirrored the state and intrepid spirit of both vehicle and passengers.
